God's Word is final - the authority of the Bible
"From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
2 Timothy 3:15-16
Imagine if you got a letter from the Queen and you found out it had come from her and not just one of the people who worked for her. How would you feel?
The Bible is a message to you from someone even more powerful and noble than the Queen. 2 Timothy 3 says it has been "breathed out" by God. That means the Bible contains God's words to us. Even though 40 different people actually wrote down the words of the Bible, they were all inspired by God.
Now imagine the Queen's letter gave you an instruction. Would you obey it? Of course you would!
How much more then should we obey the Bible if it has come from the King of the Universe?
In today's psalm (a song in the Old Testament), we see just that:
1 Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord.
2 Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts.
3 They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
4 You have charged us
to keep your commandments carefully.
The Bible is God's Word, so we must do what it says. And according to Psalm 119, that is the way to live a joyful life!
Which bits of the Bible do you find it hardest to obey?
PRAY to God now and ask for his help to read and obey his Word the Bible.

Psalm 119 is an "acrostic" poem. Each new paragraph begins with the next letter of the (Hebrew) alphabet. See if you can write a poem about the Bible where each new line begins with the next letter of the word "BIBLE".
