Children of God

'The Spirit that we have makes us children of God.

And with that Spirit we say, “Father, dear Father.”'

Romans 8:15 (ICB)

When a child is adopted into a new family, that makes them ever so special. They have been chosen by their parents and are deeply loved. They are part of the family forever, and even if they keep messing up that will never change. Their parents will never stop loving them.

Well, Romans 8 says Christians have been adopted by God, and his Spirit makes us God's children.

We get to call God our Father and can be sure of his love for us forever, even when we don't deserve it.

This video helps to explain how that works:

If you ever feel like you don't belong, or you've messed up one too many times for God, remember you are God's child! You belong in his family and he will never abandon you.

Let's pray:

Dear heavenly Father, thank you for making me your child. Please help me to believe your huge love for me, even when I don't deserve it. Please would that make me more free and less afraid in everything I do. In Jesus name, Amen.
