Jesus includes his followers in his mission

Mark 6 (ICB)

7 Jesus called the 12 followers together and sent them out in groups of 2. He gave them authority over evil spirits. 8 This is what Jesus told them:

“Take nothing for your trip except a walking stick. Take no bread, no bag, and no money in your pockets. 9 Wear sandals, and take only the clothes you are wearing. 10 When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. 11 If any town refuses to accept you or its people refuse to listen to you, then leave that town. Shake its dust off your feet. This will be a warning to them.”

12 The followers went out and preached to the people to change their hearts and lives. 13 The followers forced many demons out and poured olive oil on many sick people and healed them.

Now we don't have to go around sharing the good news with no backpack, no money and carrying a big staff.  But we have been given the same job of sharing the good news.

The involves what v12 calls encouraging people to "change their hearts and lives" (repent).

Some people won't like that, but others will realise King Jesus' way of living is better, so they will accept his love and forgiveness and join his kingdom.

So let's look for and pray for opportunities to tell people how good Jesus and how good it is to be a Christian.

Dear heavenly Father, thank you that Jesus includes us in his mission to share his love and spread his kingdom. Please help us to be brave and gentle in how we speak about him and a good witness to others in all we do. In Jesus name, Amen.
