God made humans in his image

We are looking at the same Bible passage as last week.

Genesis 1:27

"God created mankind in his own image,
   in the image of God he created them;
   male and female he created them."

Watch this video about how this was the highlight of the whole of creation (if you have Play-Doh at home, you might want to grab it). Being made in God's image means than mankind is the very best thing God made. Human beings (like you and me) are God's masterpiece.

If we are made in God's image, what does that mean for how we should treat other people?

Well, Genesis 1:27 says in one way, all people are the same (made like God) but in another way we're different (here: male and female, but there are all sorts of other differences too).

God made us the same and different - this is God's very good idea...

Having watched the video, why is it such a good idea that God made us all the same, but also all different?

What sort of differences between people do you see at church?

But what do you all have in common?

In what ways have you treated people badly in the past because they are not the same as you?

Why is it good news that Jesus was treated badly in his life and death?

Jesus rescued God's very good idea and one day he will finish it!

Praise God!
