God has a plan

'In all things God works for the good of those who love him.'

Romans 8:28

Does everything happen by chance or does everything happen for a reason?

Romans 8v28 shows us that all things happen for a reason.

What is that reason according to the verse?

That's right: everything happens for the good of Christians.

BUT, v29 shows us that doesn't mean Christians will have an easy life. In fact, Christians suffer just as much as everyone else - sometimes even more, because of their faith.

No, v29 shows that our "good" is to be made like Jesus, and everything (big and small) is happening to make our character more like Christ's. That includes the painful stuff in our lives.

Romans 8v28 can be really important to remember in the hard times, so here's a video to help you to memorise the verse:

If you like colouring, this colouring sheet might also help you to remember the verse if you fill it in and put it up somewhere so you'll see it every day.

Let's pray:

Dear heavenly Father, thank you that we know you have a plan and are in control of the whole universe. Please make me more like Jesus and help me to trust that you are using all things (happy and hard) to bring about that good in me. In Jesus name, Amen.
