God made people in paradise
Genesis 2 (NIV)
v7 - "Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
v15 - "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."
What is it that gave the first human being life (v7)?
The word for "breath" in v7 is the same as the word for "spirit". So, right from the start, it was God's Spirit who gave life to mankind.
If you read Romans 8, you'll find out that the same is still true today in another sense:
"the Holy Spirit who gives you life" (Romans 8v2)
"the Spirit gives you life" (Romans 8v10)
"God... will give life to your bodies... because of his Spirit who lives in you" (Romans 8v11)
Here we find out that God's Spirit not only gives humanity physical life, but he is also the one who gives us spiritual life, eternal life.
If someone asked you, "Why is the Holy Spirit important?" What could you now say?
What did God put mankind in his world to do? (v15)
Even in paradise there was work!
Humans are made to do things and be busy. Work is good.
God worked to make the world and we are made in his image.
It what ways can humans "take care" (v15) of the world we live in?
Thank God that he made you and that he made you for a purpose.
