Look, Tell, Praise

(Luke 2v15-20)

Let's see what 3 things the shepherds do in this passage

after the angels told them about Jesus in manger.

READ Luke 2

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’ 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

 1. Look (v15-16)

The first thing the shepherds did was to go and look at Jesus for themselves.

We can't see Jesus today because he is in heaven but we can look in the Bible to see what he's like. That's a really important thing for Christians to do: to keep looking in the Bible to see how amazing Jesus is.

2. Tell (v17-18)

The second thing the shepherds did was to tell others about Jesus. Again, Christians should do the same thing and tell our friends about Jesus and that we are friends with him. They might want to be his friend too.

3. Praise (v20)

The third thing the shepherds do is to praise God. Jesus coming to the world to save us is so good that we should tell God how brilliant he is for loving us that much. We can do that by praying or by singing.

Heavenly Father, please help us to keep looking at Jesus and telling others about him. We praise you now that because Jesus came to earth to save us that first Christmas we know that you love us, that you are with us and one day we can live forever with you. In Jesus name, Amen.
